Dr. Kamaran Badirkhan (1895-1978), besides Turkish, Persian, and Arabic, he knew other languages, including French, German, and English. He is among those writers who were influenced by the western's culture, and it is reflected in his poems, stories, and works. He was the most artistic poet in the Damascus' School. He was the 1st story writer who used the 2nd singular pronoun "you" when telling his stories, in addition to using monologs and other new techniques in story writing. The involved person has published many stories including two novels. Plus translating many works of Omer Al-Khayyam, Bodleire, and other writers into the Kurdish language. These works were published between the years (1930-1940). Dr. Kamaran Badirkhan got his B.A. in Law School in Istanbul, then a PhD in Leipzig University in Germany 1930, also in law. After that, he got a PhD in the literary philosophy in Sorbonne University in Paris. He has written and published poems in French and has two poetical works in the same language.
In 1933, Dr. Badirkhan published a poetical work entitled My Blind Heart, Hawar's Publications' Library, No 3 - Damascus. In this publication, he published his 1st free poem, Tele Amen, and it is considered the 1st Kurdish free poem.
In 1938, he wrote Kurdistan's Prince novel in the Kurmanjy dialect, as well as Latin letters of over 92 pages. This work, still, until today, never been published in Kurdish. Yet, in 1938, the novel was translated into French under the title Le Roi Du Kurdistan. The work is over 84 pages, by the writer himself, with the assistance of a French writer named Adolf De Vallgeroul. It was published in Orvouresgap Establishment in Paris. There is a copy in Germany, too. This novel, became the 1st Kurdish novel to be translated into foreign languages. It is worth noting that, with Tomah Boa informed, Dr. Kamaran Badirkhan wrote another novel (Kurdistan's Eagle - La Aigle De Kurdistan), of over 144 pages, but it has yet to be published. (5)
Kamaran made many attempts to write free poems in Hawar Magazine, using free rhymes. In 1932, he wrote Hearts's Song in free verse and published it in Hawar Magazine. No 8, p.3. He also wrote Kurdistan, a poem published in No 9, p.4, 1932. This poem is considered to be a successful attempt at writing free poems.
